The Distant Relatives Experience (Day two)

Bofa Beach, Kilifi

I enjoyed my second day in Kilifi the most. Having made friends with other people staying at the eco-lodge, we decided to do a lot of activities together that Saturday. I knew it would be a long day so I ensured I had a heavy healthy breakfast to give the start of the day a good kick.

I had homemade lightly toasted muesli with oats, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, raisins, coconut, and nuts served with seasonal fruits, milk and yoghurt (left) while Sheila had scrambled eggs, home made beans, grilled tomato, avocado, toast and farm butter (right)

We had a lot planned for the day. We headed on over to Bofa Beach first. It is only 10 minutes drive from Distant Relatives. The owner of the eco-lodge was kind enough to let us swim at his house before heading to Bofa Beach through his backyard. The view of the beach from the pool gave me the chills

There was literally nobody out on the beach. No beach boys were walking around at all. The beach felt like it was ours for the day. I have never experienced being on a whole beach alone before. Is that how Neil Armstrong felt when he was on the moon and just saw vast land around him?

Later on in the day, we walked from the hotel to a place called ‘Giriama Paradise’ in the nearby local village to watch the sunset. We were to have dinner there as well. The owner of the property has set up nice seats and a cosy setup for anybody who would like to watch the sunset

We concluded the day by taking part in beer pong and chilling by the pool. It was my first time playing beer pong and I am quite proud to say my team won!

The experience was amazing to say the least. I did not want to leave the place at all the following day. I am growing extremely fond of Kilifi and will be back there sooner than later

I will be sharing a video about the trip on my next post. Till then, stay beautiful!
